The
valley of the River Derwent cuts through the landscape of the
south eastern area of the Peak. At Matlock Bath, the valley is gorge
- like with a high exposed limestone rockface, whilst at Cromford
the valley is more wooded, with the road, expanse of river,
the canal & railway all occupying the valley floor. There
is much to see in the area - Ashbourne, Wirksworth, Matlock,
Belper, Cromford, Parwich, Tissington, Fenny Bentley and
a wealth of industrial architecture. |
