near Chesterfield is an enchanting place to visit.
- William the
Conqueror gave Bolsover to his bailiff, William Peveril, who
is believed to have built a keepwhere Bolsover Castle now stands.
In 1613, Bess of Hardwicks' son Sir Charles Cavendish began building
the battlements and turrets that we can see today.
