Bolsover Castle, Derbyshire

Bolsover Castle, perched high on a wooded hillside near Chesterfield is an enchanting place to visit.
William the Conqueror gave Bolsover to his bailiff, William Peveril, who is believed to have built a keepwhere Bolsover Castle now stands. In 1613, Bess of Hardwicks' son Sir Charles Cavendish began building the battlements and turrets that we can see today.

Visitors can enjoy the elaborate fireplaces, panelling and wall paintings, and see the early indoor riding school linked to the castle with a range of buildings including a gallery.
